Leather Bound Books

I find the blog Ace Jet 170 to be incredibly inspirational. Why? Because of all of the photos of this blogger’s “junk.” For example, his blog has a “books” category that I love. I love leather bound books with gold-accented pages and a fabric bookmark attached. He has pictures of beautiful books like these in this category.

But not only is there a book category; there are dozens more! I would especially recommend checking out the “Designers,” “la Toscana” and “Things” categories. The photos are gorgeous! Just beware of the “Dead Flies” category. The photo there is excellent, even though it is a dead fly.

You might ask why this blogger has all of these pictures? It is because he is an English graphic designer, and he loves to collect things from old bookstores or junk stores. This blog is a way for him to keep track of the stuff he finds.

I sent the blogger the following questions to learn a bit more about his blog:

Why did you start this blog?

“When I started it, I thought a blog would be a good way to catalogue the stuff I collect and have it accessible from wherever I find myself working.

There’s probably a better ways to do that but then it kind of took on a life of it’s own quite quickly.”

What is your favorite part about blogging?

“The generosity of others. So many people have sent me stuff. I’m always surprised and very grateful.”

Do you have any “favorite junk?”

“Yes! My favourite thing ever is the book of 3D Geometry I found at a car boot sale:

What is your favorite quote?

“I like that thing Picasso said about sculpting, “…I just take a chisel and knock off all the bits that don’t look like a lion”.  Or I remember hearing Damien Hirst’s reply to the question, “What influences you most?”. He said, simply, “Everything”. I really get that.”
