My fiancee and I have been using our receipt book ever since we moved in together two years ago. Any time that I pay for one of our utilities I record the portion that she owes. If we go out for dinner and one of us pays, we'll record it in the book so that we'll remember to reimburse each other. I know it's saved us from countless arguments. They say money is the #1 cause of frustration in relationships. For $6, this baby will free up your time for arguing about anything else! The only potential roadblock for this system is that all parties involved have to buy into the system, otherwise it's destined for failure. I'm sure it would work great for garage sales, too, or any other situation that involves tracking money in or out.
